Kochi: Members of the Kerala Petroleum Traders Association stated that the hoarding of fuel has forced many Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) pumps to be closed down. They pointed out that the decision from HPCL to cut short the fuel distribution to pumps owing to a hike in fuel prices in the country has resulted in shortage.

Further, the pumps which have paid in advance are yet to receive fuel. Due to this shortage, HPCL pumps in the state are forced to shut its door to customers.

The association members have submitted a complaint to the district collector demanding that the government should intervene and bring an end to the illegal hoarding of fuel. Collector has assured them that action will be taken on the matter. The association added that every pump in the state would be closed down if the government failed to find a solution to the problem.
