LS polls in Kerala: 8 people collapsed to death in different parts of the state

Kozhikode: Eight people were reported dead in separate incidents at different parts of the state on Friday during the voting.  

Chandran, a native of Vanivilasini, collapsed and died while returning from voting at Ottapalam in Palakkad district. The incident happened around 7.30 a.m. Though he was rushed to the Ottapalam Taluk hospital, he could not be saved. 

An elderly man collapsed and died after returning from voting in Ambalapuzha in Alappuzha district this morning. The deceased was identified as P. Somarajan (76) of Kakkazham. After voting in booth number 138, on his way back, he collapsed while boarding an autorickshaw. He was also rushed to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. 
 
A booth agent of LDF in Kozhikode also died after collapsing in booth no. 16. Kuttichira Malliyekkal Anish Ahmed (66) was identified as the deceased. Though he was taken to the general hospital immediately, he could not be saved. 
 
Another case reported was of a madarsa teacher who went to cast his vote in booth no. 139 at Vallikanjiram LP School in Tirur Niramaruthur panchayat. Siddhique (63) from Thattarakkal, who went to the polling booth to mark his first vote, suffered cardiac arrest and died.

The other deceased include Kandan (73) and Sabari (32), natives of Palakkad and also Kunummal Mami (63) and Vimesh (42) hailing from Kozhikode.
