Flood alerts issued across Kerala: Kasargod, Kannur, Pathanamthitta on high alert

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), in coordination with the State Irrigation Department (IDRB) and the Central Water Commission (CWC), has issued a flood alert for multiple districts as heavy rainfall continues to swell rivers across the state. Residents living along riverbanks have been strongly advised to remain vigilant and avoid entering or crossing rivers under any circumstances.

According to official reports, water levels have risen dangerously in several rivers, prompting the issuance of Red, Orange, and Yellow alerts across various districts.

Red alert: Extremely dangerous water levels:

Residents in the following areas are urged to take immediate precautions and avoid low-lying regions:

Kasargod:

- Manjeswaram (Manjeswaram Station)

- Mogral (Madhur Station)

Orange alert: High risk of flooding:

People in these areas should stay alert and be prepared to move to safer ground if required:

Kannur:

- Perumba (Kaithapram River Station)

Kasargod:

- Uppala (Uppala Station)

- Nileshwaram (Chaiyom River Station)

Pathanamthitta:

- Manimala (Thondra Station)

Yellow alert: Caution advised:

While the risk is lower, authorities have advised people in these areas to remain cautious:

Thiruvananthapuram:

- Vamanapuram (Mylamoodu Station)

- Neyyar (Aruvippuram Station – CWC)

- Karamana (Vellaikadavu Station – CWC)

Kollam:

- Pallikkal (Anayadi Station)

Pathanamthitta:

- Pamba (Aranmula Station)

- Achankovil (Kalleli & Konni GD Stations)

- Pamba (Madamon Station – CWC)

Idukki:

- Thodupuzha (Manakkad Station – CWC)

Ernakulam:

- Muvattupuzha (Thodupuzha Station)

Thrissur:

- Karuvannur (Kurumali & Karuvannur Stations)

Kannur:

- Kavvai (Vellore River Station)

Kasargod:

- Kariyamkode (Bheemanady Station)

Authorities have strictly warned against going into or attempting to cross rivers. Residents living near riverbanks and in flood-prone zones are urged to stay alert and follow evacuation guidelines if issued by local authorities.
