Firecracker explodes in hands of Kollam native, severally injured

Kollam: A woman was severely injured in Kadakkal after a firecracker accidentally exploded in her hands on Friday morning. The injured woman is Raji, a Kadakkal native.

The incident happened around 8 am when Raji went out to fetch water from a water tank and found a strange spherical object nearby. 

She later took it back home without realising it was explosive. Upon her mother's assertion that it was Purple Yam, she tried to cut it open using a knife, resulting in an explosion. It is reported that her left palm was severed, and she lost vision of one eye. 

Following the incident, she was rushed to Kadakkal Taluk Hospital and later to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
