Teachers’ family and daughter take K-TET together in Kerala after Supreme Court ruling

Manjeri: Following the Supreme Court ruling mandating that even serving teachers must clear the K-TET exam to maintain eligibility, a family from Pattarkulam in Kerala attended the test together on Monday. Sisters and a niece sat for the exam in the same hall, while a family member appeared at a separate centre.
K. Sajna, a teacher at Manjeri HM YHSS, her sister and fellow teacher Rajula, and Rajula’s daughter Fathima Sherin, all sat the K-TET exam together in the same hall. Meanwhile, Rajula’s husband, Dr. Kunjimuhammed Puthalath, a teacher with a doctorate and extensive experience, appeared for the K-TET three exam at Makkaraparamba GVHSS. The three family members in Manjeri were seated on adjacent benches.
Sajna, Rajula and Dr. Kunjimuhammed are appearing for the exam as part of their professional requirements, while Fathima Sherin, who holds a postgraduate degree and a fellowship, is taking the test to secure employment.
This is the first K-TET exam held after the Supreme Court verdict, which also prompted candidates with M.Phil degrees and JRF qualifications to prepare for the test.
The exam attracted a diverse group of candidates, including a significant number of differently-abled individuals, following the mandatory appointment policy for aided schools.
On Monday morning, the family left for the exam together. Both mother and daughter reported that they found the exam relatively easy.
The K-TET exams for levels one, two, and three have been conducted across the state over the past few days.
