Kannur: CPM Central Committee member EP Jayarajan has expressed his displeasure over the party leadership’s failure to clarify the controversy surrounding the Vaidekam Resort issue.

In his autobiography 'Ithanente Jeevitham (This Is My Life)', published by Mathrubhumi Books, Jayarajan writes that he was deeply hurt by reports claiming that P Jayarajan had accused him of corruption during a CPM state committee meeting concerning the resort.

EP Jayarajan said he had not attended that meeting and was unaware of what transpired. However, the media reports continued for several days, causing him great distress. He added that the leadership’s silence at the time allowed personal attacks to persist.

According to him, the facts became clear only at the next state committee meeting, when P Jayarajan clarified that the discussion had merely revolved around whether a private company could be extended support similar to a cooperative society. EP Jayarajan noted that if this clarification had been made earlier, much of the controversy and personal insult could have been avoided.

In his autobiography, Jayarajan also confirms that P Jayarajan indeed raised the issue related to Vaidekam Resort in the state committee meeting.

He further alleges that BJP leader Sobha Surendran’s phone calls to his son were an attempt to persuade him to contest elections. According to Jayarajan, Sobha met his son at a wedding in Ernakulam, took his phone number, and called him several times, but his son chose not to answer.

Jayarajan adds that Sobha Surendran mentioned the matter involving his son while explaining her meeting with BJP leader Prakash Javadekar. He recalls that Javadekar, accompanied by Dallal (broker) Nandakumar, had met him unexpectedly, describing it as an informal courtesy visit made to various political leaders after assuming charge of the BJP in Kerala.

He said Javadekar had also met Binoy Viswam, Ramesh Chennithala, and PK Kunhalikutty, among others. “If this meeting took place just before the Lok Sabha elections a year and a half later, is it not a conspiracy?” Jayarajan asks in his book.
