Sexagenarian with Nipah symptoms admitted to Kozhikode Medical College; Not in contact list

Kozhikode: A 68-year-old man from Pandikkad in Malappuram was admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital with Nipah symptoms. However, the elderly man is not included in the contact list of the 14-year-old native of Malappuram who died due to Nipah on Sunday.

He was transferred from Manjeri Medical College Hospital to Kozhikode Medical College. The man who developed fever before the child, who died on Sunday, started having fever, was transferred to Kozhikode Medical College after he started showing Nipah symptoms.

The deceased child was a native of Chempressari in Pandikkad Panchayat. After Nipah was confirmed, the child was shifted to the special ICU of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Saturday night. Before that, the child had sought treatment from private hospitals. 

At 10.50 a.m. on Sunday, the child had a heart attack and his blood pressure had dropped. And then there was internal bleeding. Then the death occurred. The child started having a fever 11 days ago.
