Kozhikode: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) organised protest rallies and public gatherings across Kerala on Friday in protest against the communal violence in Manipur.

The meetings at district levels were inaugurated by senior leaders of CPM. Torchlight marches would be held on Saturday at 3,000 locations, said VK Sanoj, state secretary, during a press conference in Kozhikode.

Sanoj said the organisation was deeply concerned about the attack on women. He questioned the silence of the prime minister on the matter.

To promote unity and secularism, DYFI has planned "Secular Street" events on Independence Day. Marches will take place across all districts as part of this campaign.

In the fight against the drug mafia, DYFI is organising 25,000 ‘Jagratha Sadas’ on July 25 and 26. State president, V Vaseef, also attended the press conference.
