Demand to change Thiruvananthapuram Mayor raised in CPM district committee

Thiruvananthapuram: Harsh criticisms were raised against the attitude of Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran in the party.
The disapproval was raised in the CPM district committee which had met to review the Lok Sabha election defeat. It is learned that some representatives have indirectly indicated that the mayor should be changed.
At the same time, some leaders raised the opinion that Arya should not be removed from the post of Mayor with only a year and a half left for the local elections.
There was an assessment that such action would confirm the Opposition's allegation that the Municipal administration is a failure.
It seems that as local elections are around the corner, before the CPM leadership is reformed, the party unit in Thiruvananthapuram and the mayor will have to be reformed.
The leadership meeting will end on Sunday. The lack of experience of the Mayor was also flayed as a setback in the city administration. The incident in which mayor and her husband Sachindev MLA stopped the KSRTC bus by halting the car in front of it was also severely criticised in the district committee.
The CPM leaders in both the district secretariat and district committee held that there was an immature intervention on the part of the mayor and Sachin Dev MLA. There was also criticism against the State government. The suspension of welfare pensions backfired in the elections, they observed.
They also observed that employees and pensioners came against the government.
