Kannur: While addressing the threat of Artificial Intelligence (AI)  which would pose problems like large-scale unemployment in the imminent future, CPM state secretary MV Govindan has come out with his own inimitable style to interpret the situation, saying that Marxism becomes quite relevant under such circumstances. While inaugurating the mural sculpture memorial in Taliparamba area committee office on Wednesday in connection with CPM Kannur district conference, he said that the development of AI technology will be a journey towards socialism.

“In this changing social context, Marxism holds relevance,” he said.

“AI is in the hands of capitalism. As it is used across various sectors, human labour capacity will be decreased by 60%. In such a scenario, the working class will have no work to do, as AI will take over the labour. This will also lead to a 60% decrease in the buying and selling capacity in the market. When there are no people to buy the products of capitalism, the gap between the rich and the poor will not increase; instead, the gap between the rich, super-rich and the poor will decrease. This will lead to a fundamental shift in society. This is the situation Marx referred to as the division of wealth, which forms the basis of the socialist revolution. In this way, the growth of AI will lead to a journey toward socialism,”  M.V. Govindan explained.
