The autobiography of EP Jayarajan, senior leader of the CPM and member of Central Committee, will be released this month. Titled ‘This is my life’ (Idanennde Jeevitham), the autobiography will be published by Mathrubhumi Books. The book is set to hit the market on October 20. EP had announced at this year’s Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters that Mathrubhumi Books would publish his autobiography.

EP Jayarajan’s political life is among the most discussed in Kerala. He began his political journey through the student organisation KSF. A vocal opponent of the Emergency, Jayarajan faced attacks from both the police and political adversaries.

EP has held several top positions: first All-India President of DYFI, CPM Kannur District Secretary, Central Committee member, LDF Convenor and Minister in the state government. With such a rich political legacy, Kerala awaits his autobiography with great interest.

Readers can now pre-order EP Jayarajan’s autobiography. The book, priced at ₹290, will be available for ₹232 when pre-ordered.

Controversy over the autobiography

Last year, certain portions of EP Jayarajan’s autobiography were leaked, sparking a major controversy. There were reports that another publisher was releasing the book under the title ‘Kattan chayayum parippuvadayum: The Life of a Communist’. A publication date had been set but later postponed.

The controversy arose amid the heated atmosphere of by-elections in Palakkad, Chelakkara, and Wayanad. The leaked excerpts contained statements attributed to Jayarajan that were politically sensitive — including criticism of the CPM, claims that the second Pinarayi Vijayan government was weak, questioning Sarin’s candidature in Palakkad, and remarks that the party was unwilling to listen after Jayarajan was removed as LDF Convenor.

However, EP Jayarajan denied all these claims at the time and took legal action against the publishers. Following his complaint, police registered a case and began investigation. The case is being investigated by Kottayam District Police Chief A Shahul Hameed.
