CPM killed Dheeraj, blamed Congress and KSU workers: Former DCC President

Cheruthoni (Idukki): Former DCC president Joy Thomas on Friday made a controversial remark, warning that anyone who comes against Congress workers will be physically confronted.

He made the provocative remarks while speaking at a protest meeting organised by the Congress against the violence that took place in Vazhathope panchayat.

Thomas further alleged that Dheeraj Rajendran, an SFI activist from the Government Engineering College in Idukki, was killed by the CPM and that the blame for the incident was unfairly placed on Congress and KSU workers.

He said the CPM should explain what happened on the way when the stabbed Dheeraj was being taken to the medical college.

Thomas also said that if the UDF comes to power, the murder of Dheeraj will be reinvestigated.

He further warned that if the Marxist party continues to create trouble and obstruct the Vazhathope panchayat administration from functioning independently, “their hands and legs would be broken.”

“We have entrusted the administration of the panchayat to someone capable of dealing with such situations,” Joy Thomas said.

Dheeraj Rajendran, 21, of Taliparamba, Kannur, was stabbed to death, along with two others, at the Idukki Govt Engineering College, Kuyilimala, in 2022. Two other SFI members were also critically injured in the attack.
