Kannur: CPM has initiated organisational revamps in view of the next Lok Sabha election. Party committees were set up based on the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies of Kerala. The formation of another set of party committees based on Assembly constituencies is underway here. The panchayat, ward and booth level committees will also be established later. The booth committees will function by entrusting the charge of 10 houses to each party member.

State committee members are the secretaries of the Lok Sabha constituency committees. Though AN Shamseer was selected as the secretary of the Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency committee, he was replaced by another leader after the party decided to make him the Assembly speaker.

Lok Sabha constituency committee will comprise the district committee members. The area committee members will be part of the Assembly constituency committees.

From now onwards, these will be the committee of the party in Kerala. District, area committees and branches will be convened only if organisational issues come up.

The party leaders and elected representatives will visit the houses of the voters to establish a cordial relationship with them. This initiative has begun on the day of Thiruvonam in the state.
