Kannur: CPM central committee member and former LDF convener EP Jayarajan has said that it is a criminal offense to release an autobiography that he did not write and that was published without his consent. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Jayarajan clarified that he is still working on his autobiography, which has not been completed yet.

“I have lodged a complaint with the DGP regarding this incident. I have requested a detailed investigation into the conspiracy and urged the DGP to take strong action against the culprits,” Jayarajan said. He emphasised that legal steps have been initiated and that whatever has been released under the guise of his autobiography is entirely fabricated.

“How can someone publish my book without my consent? I only came to know about it through media reports,” he remarked. “DC Books has done something absolutely wrong. I had no idea about the release of this autobiography until I saw it in the news.”

Jayarajan further clarified that he had not authorised anyone to publish his autobiography. “DC Books had approached me, and so had Mathrubhumi Books, but nothing was finalized. The procedures for publication were still ongoing. I was planning to give the rights to a publisher after completing the work and reviewing it once more,” he explained.

He believes the release of the book is part of a "planned conspiracy," especially timed with the election. “The people behind this conspiracy intentionally chose this particular day to release the book. Similarly, they aired a news story about an incident that happened a year and a half ago — and that too, on an election day. This is part of a pattern, and there are many more things to be uncovered about this conspiracy. I intend to bring more clarity on the matter,” Jayarajan said.

He also revealed that he had given the manuscript to a trusted journalist for editing. “Under normal circumstances, it should not have leaked from his side. We need to investigate how this happened,” he added.

Jayarajan further accused the perpetrators of attempting a character assassination. “By doing this, the conspirators aim to destroy the party and disrupt the election process. Whether this operation was carried out from within the party will only be clear after a detailed investigation,” he said.

When asked about his role in controversies surrounding the CPM in recent times, Jayarajan said, “Those who target a tree full of fruits are bound to throw stones at it.”

Meanwhile, DC Books, the publishing house, released a statement explaining that the release of EP Jayarajan’s autobiography, titled Kattan Chayayum Parippu Vadayum, has been postponed due to technical reasons. “More details about the content of the book will be revealed when it is officially published,” they said in a Facebook post.
