Corruption case: ADGP to approach Kerala HC against vigilance court verdict rejecting clean chit

Kochi: ADGP Ajith Kumar will file an appeal in the Kerala High Court on Monday against the vigilance court’s verdict that rejected the clean chit previously granted to him in a corruption case. The appeal seeks a stay on the court’s order.
Ajith Kumar contends that the court did not correctly evaluate the facts. He argues that the grounds cited for investigation were not based on facts. The claim that a subordinate officer was appointed for the inquiry is invalid, he added, saying it is sufficient to assess whether the investigating officer is competent.
Background of the case
On August 14, the vigilance court dismissed the clean chit given to Ajith Kumar in a disproportionate assets case. Advocate Neyyattinkara Nagaraju had filed a petition seeking an investigation against the ADGP for alleged accumulation of illegal wealth.
Earlier, in line with government directives, the vigilance department had submitted its investigative report on Ajith Kumar. After detailed examination, the court found that the investigation was incomplete and rejected the report.
