Mathew Kuzhalnadan's residential property is functioning as resort: Reports

Idukki: Evidence has come out against MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan for apparently violating the Land Assignment rules. The MLA is accused of converting a property that was assigned by the revenue department for residential purposes into a private resort. Mathrubhumi News has received copies of the related documents given by the Chinnakanal gram panchayat to Kuzhalnadan.

It should be noted that Kuzhalnadan in his last day's press conference claimed that he bought the land for residential purposes. He also reasserted that neither he nor the previous landowner had violated any existing rules. However, at present, the property was found to be functioning as a resort, and bookings are happening in full swing as well. The customers are charged Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000.

The Land Assignment Rules 1964, clearly states that the land under LA Pattayam can be used only for the construction of houses or for agricultural purposes. The acts of Mathew Kuzhalnadan have been found to be in clear violation of these rules.

It should be noted that the cabinet has already approved a draft bill for making amends to the existing Land Assignment rules. However, the revenue department had clearly mentioned that no relaxations will be given to resorts even under the new bill.
