Venjaramoodu twin murder: CPI (M) taking advantage of opportunity, alleges Mullappally Ramachandran
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran stated that political violence in Kerala will end if the CPI (M) instructs its cadre not to take arms.
He was inaugurating a one-day hunger strike by DCC presidents condemning the state-wide attack on Congress offices following the Venjaramoodu twin murder.
“Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Pinarayi Vijayan started political violence in Kerala. Peace must come from their side. Police investigation is not the solution to end political violence,” he pointed out.
Mullappally stated that the CPI (M) was taking advantage of the opportunity in connection with the Venjaramoodu twin murder case. The murder, which was a result of dispute between two groups, is being used politically. The CPI (M) is trying to use the opportunity to shift the public’s attention from corruption allegations, the Congress leader said.
He added that police officials including DIG Sanjay Kumar Garud and the Attingal DySP had stated that the killings could not be considered as political murders.
Mullappally alleged that Rural SP B. Ashok, who said that the murders were political, was returning the favour for conferring IPS rank. “Disciplinary action has been taken against Ashok several times. How can such a policeman become an IPS officer? This must be probed,” he added.
“The other day, CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in Ernakulam that the Venjrammoodu twin murder was in retaliation of the Periya double murder. He has admitted that CPI (M) was behind the Periya double murder. Can he point out any CPI (M) offices being destroyed after the Periya murders?,” asked Mullappally Ramachandran. He added that it was not the style of Congress.
