Concession fare row: Thiruvananthapuram school student forced off private bus

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: A Plus One student from Attingal Boys Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram has alleged that she was forced to get off a private bus after the conductor refused to accept her student concession fare.

Schools remained closed on Friday following a strike called by the Students' Federation of India (SFI). According to reports, the student had gone to school only to mark her attendance before heading home.

The student boarded the private bus Akhila from the Attingal Private Bus Stand to travel to Avanavanchery. When she offered the student concession fare, the conductor allegedly refused to accept it, claiming that concession fares could not be granted to students returning from places other than school.

The conductor then demanded the minimum fare of ₹10.

The student maintained that she was returning from school and showed her school identity card as proof. Despite this, the bus staff allegedly refused to accept her explanation and denied her travel on the concession fare.

She was subsequently asked to get off the bus at the next stop near the KSRTC bus stand.

The student later informed the school authorities about the incident. The school has decided to file a police complaint over the matter.
