Mamkootathil ensured abortion pill intake via video call, threatened with nude footage: Affidavit

Thiruvananthapuram: The first rape case against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has taken a serious turn as the complainant has submitted an affidavit detailing severe allegations. The woman claims she was subjected to brutal rape and threatened with a nude video recording. The affidavit comes ahead of the Kerala High Court hearing, scheduled for Wednesday.

The affidavit claims the explicit video remains with Rahul. The woman reportedly fears he will release the explicit material if granted anticipatory bail. It adds that granting bail to a person of power and influence like Rahul could discourage other victims from coming forward. 

Allegations of coerced abortion and drug use

The complainant alleges that an abortion was performed under duress. Rahul reportedly ensured his associate, Joby, administered pills, confirming their consumption during a video call. She further describes Rahul as sadistic and claims the investigation team has information on approximately 10 other abuse cases, including one involving a minor.

Digital evidence submitted

Chats and voice messages exchanged between Rahul and the complainant have been submitted along with the affidavit. Sources say some messages contain threats and attempts at intimidation.

Legal proceedings

The first case, registered with Nemam Police, saw the Sessions Court reject Rahul’s anticipatory bail plea. He then approached the Kerala High Court, which stayed his arrest. Investigators are expected to update the High Court on Rahul’s arrest in a third rape case today.
