College teacher attacked by alleged CPM workers at Payyannur

Payyannur: A college teacher was brutally beaten up by alleged CPM workers at Payyannur on Tuesday night. Kerala Private College Teachers Association office bearers has alleged that P Rajith Kumar, a teacher of Madayi College, was attacked by CPM workers for trying to prevent  bogus voting during the polling held on April 26. Rajith Kumar was returning to his house on his bike on Tuesday night and was stopped by a gang of around 10 CPM workers led by CPM branch secretary at 10 pm. 

 Rajith Kumar had worked as a booth agent of Congress in this election. KPCTA Kannur region president Dr Shino P Jose said that during the polling, Rajith had intervened to prevent bogus voting by CPM. He was attacked by CPM for this, Shino said. Injured Rajith Kumar was admitted to Payyannur Priyadarshini hospital. 

KPCTA state general secretary Dr Premachandran Keezhoth, Kasaragod district president Dr Joby Thomas and Shino P Jose visited Rajith Kumar on Wednesday at the hospital. The leaders have demanded proper investigation from the part of the police.
