A travel influencer from Kerala has shared a shocking account of his journey in a general coach of a passenger train going to North Indian, where a man reportedly carried in an Indian cobra to scare passengers and solicit money.
The incident, recorded by a youth named Aswin, has since gone viral, with the video garnering over a million views within 24 hours of being posted on Instagram.
In the viral reel, Aswin narrated his ordeal, describing how the man entered the crowded coach holding the venomous snake and began intimidating passengers. The man reportedly used the cobra to frighten awake those who were asleep, holding it dangerously close to them. "I was just about to fall asleep when this happened. It truly scared me," Aswin said, recounting the chilling moment.
Aswin explained that although they were unsure of whether the cobra had its venomous teeth removed. The sight was terrifying for the unsuspecting passengers. “Initially, I thought he was a ‘pambatti’ (a snake charmer). Later, I learned they were locals who use this tactic to extort money,” he said in the video.
The influencer expressed frustration over the authorities' lack of action. "These people seem unafraid of legal consequences. The police or law enforcement doesn't intervene, allowing them to continue terrorizing passengers," Aswin noted.
The video begins with Aswin commenting on the general perception of unreserved train compartments. "I had heard that traveling in a general coach in North India could be unpleasant, but I never expected something like this. A man threw a cobra at me while I was sleeping!" he exclaimed.
The footage, which shows the man using the cobra to intimidate and frighten passengers, has sparked outrage on social media. Users have criticized the incident, demanding stricter enforcement against such behavior on Indian Railways.
One user wrote tagging the railway minister, "If you can't provide safety for the passengers who are travelling by paying you, then please resign from this job and go somewhere else".
