CM Pinarayi promises strong action against attacks on health workers

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has promised a thorough investigation into the murder of young doctor Vandana Das at Kottarakkara taluk hospital.

The CM visited the hospital to meet with the doctor's family and consoled them. He stated that strong action would be taken against attacks on healthcare workers.

Expressing shock and sorrow, the CM stated that the attacker was brought in for treatment, but he attacked Vandana during the check up. When police officers and others tried to intervene, they too were stabbed. He emphasised that it is unacceptable for healthcare workers to be subjected to such violence while on duty.

The attack, which occurred at around 5 am on Wednesday at Kottarakkara taluk hospital, has shocked the state. The attacker, identified as Sandeep, a native of Cherukarakonam, Pooyappally, Kollam, had been brought to the hospital by the police for treatment. During the medical examination, he stabbed Vandana Das more than five times, and also attacked police officers who tried to intervene.
