Chennai flood: TN CM Stalin expresses gratitude to Pinarayi Vijayan for his support

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin thanked his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday for expressing his concern about the recent floods that had devastated Chennai. 

In a tweet shared on X, Stalin wrote "Appreciate your solidarity, Comrade @pinarayivijayan. Grateful for your outreach. #Chennai is steadily recovering, and your genuine concern on behalf of the people of Kerala warms our hearts. Together, we'll overcome this challenge."

Earlier today, Vijayan expressed concerns about the flood in Tamil Nadu and extended full support. 

"Chennai is grappling with a severe natural calamity. Spoke to Tamil Nadu CM, Thiru @mkstalin, offering Kerala's full support during this difficult situation. Let's stand united with Tamil Nadu to overcome this tragedy and move forward together," Vijayan posted in X. 

A dozen people lost their lives in various rain-related incidents in and around Chennai while personnel on fishing boats and farm tractors were engaged in rescuing stranded people on Tuesday. The city and adjoining districts faced relentless rains on Monday as the severe cyclonic storm Michaung loomed over the north coastal areas of Tamil Nadu.

Eleven others, who sustained injuries in rain-related incidents, were receiving treatment in various hospitals, officials said.

Several District Disaster Response Teams (DDRT) were formed to carry out relief work in all rain-affected areas across the city.
