Chennai-Bodinayakanur train service expected to boost tourism, business in Idukki

Indian Railways has launched a service connecting Chennai and Bodinayakanur railway station, located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.

Bodinayakanur station is one hour away from Poopara in Idukki, making it the closest railway station for the people in the hilly region.

The train service is expected to boost tourism and spice exports from Idukki. In addition to this, the service enables easy passage for Sabarimala devotees from Tamil Nadu.

Train Timing

Services from Chennai to Bodinayakanur on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and return services on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. There would be stops in Usilampatti, Andipatti and Theni. 

Every day, an unreserved express train would conduct services between Madurai and Bodinayakanur. The train departs from Madurai at 8:20 am and reaches Theni at 9:42 am and Bodinayakanur at 10:30 am. The train resumes its journey at 5:50 pm and reaches Madurai at 7:50 pm.
