Kerala BJP leadership meeting called off following HQ's rejection

Kochi: Amid intense differences among BJP leaders over the by-election defeat, the party's state leadership meeting, convened to discuss the matter, was canceled following intervention from the central leadership. BJP state president K. Surendran himself had announced in a press conference that the state leadership meeting would be held on December 7 and 8 to evaluate the electoral defeat.

However, the central leadership decided against such discussions for the time being, recognising that a review might exacerbate internal issues. Although state in-charge Prakash Javadekar and co-in-charge Aparajita Sarangi are in Kerala, the state leadership meeting will not take place.

Meanwhile, the core committee will meet on Monday. Before that, party leaders will meet RSS leaders to assess the political situation. The by-election defeat may also be discussed during these interactions.

At the grassroots level, party organisational elections are scheduled to be completed within this month. The central leadership is prioritising the swift resolution of disputes over past issues and the prompt completion of organisational elections to prepare the party for the general elections.
