BDJS candidates to be announced today: Tushar Vellapally to contest from Kottayam

Cherthala: BDJS candidates for the Chalakudy, Mavelikkara, Kottayam and Idukki constituencies will be announced on Saturday in Kottayam. The Alathur and Wayanad constituencies that the party contested during the previous Lok Sabha elections have been given to the BJP. BDJS got Kottayam and Chalakudy instead.

The BDJS state president Tushar Vellapally will be the candidate from Kottayam. Rubber board Vice Chairman Chalakudy Unnikrishnan is the first priority in the Chalakudy constituency. Adv Sangeetha Viswanathan and E.S Sheeba are also under consideration.

It is reported that the party plans to scout someone from the Christian religion in Idukki. Former MLA Mathew Stephen, who accepted party membership, is also being considered. Vice president of the organisation K Padmakumar is also a likely candidate. 

The decision to put up an independent candidate at Mavelikkara was changed. BJP will scout a suitable person and reports indicate that KPMS leader Baiju Kalashala is the main choice.
