Udinoor (Kasaragod): A student has come to the rescue of a little barn owl which was found in her house compound and finally released it after the bird grew up.

Adithya Santhosh, a Plus One student from Udinoor here, saved the wild bird about one and a half months ago. As the barn owl was so young and was unable to fly, Adithya decided to take it home. She fed it with milk and food and took good care.

Though her family was aware that rearing barn owl at home is a punishable offence, they allowed to take care of the bird till it is able to fly. Finally, when the bird grew up and learnt to fly, Adithya was willing to free the bird.

The family contacted forest officials. Later, Sujesh Karivellur from Kanhangad range office came to their residence and received the bird. A student of Udinoor Government Higher Secondary School, Adithya is daughter of C Santhosh Kumar and T Bijaly.
