Tribal mother walks through labour, delivers baby boy on Ayiloor hillside

Ayiloor: A 24-year-old tribal woman, Salisha, gave birth to a baby boy on a hillside in Ayiloor after walking five kilometers in labour. Salisha, the wife of Aneesh, lives in Chellikayam in the Nelliampathy forest area, located in Kalchadi village.

The couple had recently moved to Chellikayam from Kalchadi with their family, just four days before the incident. On Sunday morning, Salisha began experiencing labour pains, prompting them to descend from the forest area. The pain intensified, as the couple walked more than five kilometers towards Nerchapara, around 1pm, Salisha gave birth. 

Followed her birth, she was taken to a nearby house for temporary relief. Upon hearing of the situation, Ayiloor Gram Panchayat member K.A. Muhammedkutty contacted local health workers for assistance. ST Promoter Mini, ASHA worker Minisabu, and Shakeela Ashraf arrived on the scene and helped transport Salisha and her newborn to the district hospital in an ambulance.

Both Salisha and the baby are currently under observation at the hospital, and their condition is stable.
