Nellikala: The police encountered a peculiar issue when, in an attempted robbery at UCO bank near TK road in Nellikala, detergent powder was sprinkled in the room jeopardizing any attempts to use police dogs for the investigation.

The dogs could not provide any useful clues to help with the investigation. Even though fingerprint experts inspected the site, there is no indication of any prints being recovered. The police concluded that gloves must have been used as the burglars seem to be professionals.

There is no clear evidence regarding the number of people involved in the crime. Unfortunately, CCTV cameras showing the path leading to and from the bank are not available, reports say. Police are currently gathering footage from CCTV cameras in the vicinity.

The locals were shocked upon learning  the robbery attempt. On Sunday noon, people living in the vicinity had come near the bank’s premises but did not notice anything unusual. This is the basis for the assessment that the attempted heist probably took place on Sunday night.
