‘Attempt to tamper service book for pension’: Complaint filed against Kerala MLA K T Jaleel with Governor

Malappuram: A complaint has been lodged with the Governor alleging that MLA K T Jaleel attempted to manipulate his service book to secure pension benefits unlawfully. U A Razak, president of the Tirurangadi Constituency Muslim Youth League, has lodged the complaint, claiming that using political influence to obtain undeserved pension benefits constitutes a breach of oath by the MLA and social legislator. Razak has also demanded that Jaleel, Tavanur MLA and a former Higher Education minister, be disqualified.
The complaint has also been forwarded to the Chief Secretary and the Secretary of the Higher Education Department, requesting that steps be taken to prevent any tampering with the service book.
Jaleel served as a lecturer at PSMO College, Tirurangadi, from November 16, 1994 to May 31, 2006. After becoming an MLA, he took leave and subsequently resigned from his post on March 12, 2021 when he was appointed Higher Education Minister. The resignation was accepted by the college management, and further action was taken. On August 13, 2024, he withdrew all benefits, including his provident fund, and closed the account. However, on November 14, 2024, he submitted a letter to the college principal requesting reinstatement. When informed that changes to the service book were not possible, he transferred the service book to the Higher Education Department.
According to the complainant, actions are now underway to amend the service book at the office of the Deputy Director of Collegiate Education in Kozhikode. U A Razak claimed that this scandal came to light through a reply received under the Right to Information Act.
