Young man attacked for asking to return borrowed money of Rs 100

Pala: Police nabbed a man for trying to kill his friend when he asked to return the borrowed money of Rs 100. Aluva native Madani Joby (47), residing in a lodge at the Pala Adart road, was arrested by the police.
Shefeeq (44), son of Nedumbaram Puthukunnel Muhammad Haneefa, who was staying adjacent to Joby’s room in the lodge, was attacked with a knife.
Shefeeq sustained 12 wounds on his face, chest, neck, back and abdomen. The incident happened at 10.15 pm on Wednesday. The attack took place after Shefeeq, a bike workshop employee of Pala Murikumpuzha, asked Joby to return his Rs 100.
Joby, who was drunk, had a quarrel with Shefeeq and eventually attacked him with a knife. Shefeeq was rushed to Pala Taluk Hospital and later to Kottayam Medical College Hospital by the lodge inmates. The injured Shefeeq is out of danger.
A police team led by SHO KP Thompson arrested Joby, took him to the scene and collected evidence in the presence of forensic experts. The accused, who was produced in Pala court, was remanded.
