Parallel telephone exchange in Kozhikode: Union minister mulls strict action

New Delhi: Strict action will be initiated over the incident in which a parallel telephone exchange was spotted in Kozhikode, said Union IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav. The minister informed the decision after Chalakkudy MP Benny Behanan and Mavelikkara MP Kodikkunnil Suresh filed a plea in this regard.
“The government understands the gravity of the incident. An emergency probe will be declared soon,” said the minister.
It was on Sunday, a secret investigation team of Kerala police spotted the parallel telephone exchange, which was operating clandestinely, at Chinthavalappu in Kozhikode. One person was also arrested in connection with this.
Through this exchange, calls can be made even to foreign countries. Its secretive nature makes it conducive for terrorism related activities. The Central government has been examining terror links behind this.
