Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: In yet another tragic case of electrocution in Kerala, a 19-year-old youth died after coming into contact with a fallen power line in Nedumangad. The incident comes close on the heels of the recent school electrocution death in Kollam, which has already sparked public outrage and criticism against the state government, particularly its education and electricity departments.

The latest accident occurred in Panayamuttam, Nedumangad, around 12 o’clock on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Akshay, who was returning home after catering work when the mishap occurred.

According to initial reports, the motorbike Akshay and two friends were riding hit a live power line that had snapped due to a tree fall, allegedly caused by heavy rain and strong winds the previous night. While the two others escaped, Akshay suffered fatal injuries. His body was shifted to Nedumangad Hospital.

After the accident, his friends called local residents and tried to rush him to the hospital. The Nedumangad police are collecting statements from them as part of the investigation.
