Anil Akkara levels serious allegations against AC Moideen, Pinarayi Vijayan

Thrissur: Former MLA Anil Akkara continued to level serious allegations against former minister AC Moideen. The Congress leader accused AC Moideen and gang of swindling Rs 29 crores, out of the total Rs 300 crores scam at Karuvannur bank. AC Moideen, the former CPM minister is accused of misusing his powers and is also criticised for submitting a false affidavit while contesting for elections. Anil Akkara also termed Anit Seth as the benami of AC Moideen.
“It is an absolute shame that a person who was the Minister for Cooperation is involved in a humongous scam at a co-operative bank in the state. This could not have happened without the silent approval of Pinarayi (Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan). When the Youth Congress had protested against the appointment of Moideen’s daughter as a sports doctor in an Ayurveda hospital, all she did was just silently resign from the post. Moideen has a history of corruption. The former minister had also earned Rs 2 crores in a LIFE Mission scam, the money is in the custody of his benamis Satheeshan and Anil Seth,” said Congress leader Anil Akkara.
“It is known that Moideen has fixed deposits amounting to Rs 30 lakhs. The fixed deposits are supposedly at the Bank of India and the Machad Self-help Cooperative Society. This is in stark contrast to what he has mentioned in his election affidavit. In his affidavit, the former minister has claimed that he has only assets worth Rs 19 lakhs. Digging deeper, it was found that Moideen has deposits of Rs 2 lakhs at the Bank of India and the rest of his FD lies with the Machad co-operative society, and the minister never even mentioned this money in his affidavit. How is it possible to deposit almost Rs 28 lakhs in a small society?” wondered Anil Akkara.
“Machad co-operative society is part of the scam. The society president is Moideen’s neighbour. Thekkumkara grama panchayath president’s wife is the secretary of the society. The dealings of the Kunnamkulam MLA are all shady. He has quoted incorrect information in his affidavit and had sworn by it, he does not deserve to continue as a people’s representative,” the Congress leader concluded his statements.
