Kerala’s secret pride Marayur jaggery to be exported to Dubai

Kochi: Kerala’s secret pride Marayur jaggery will now be exported to Dubai. Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) chairman Dr M Angamuthu flagged off the first export of GI tagged Marayur jaggery. The function was attended by the Director of Agriculture Department T V Subash, Fair Exports (India) Private Limited representatives and other officers of APEDA. T V Subash informed that a detailed action plan for encouraging export from Kerala by concentrating on harbours and airports will be developed.
Fair Exports (India) Private Limited is the company in charge of exporting Marayur jaggery to Dubai. Fair Exports (India) is part of the Lulu group and registered under APEDA. Two tonnes of Marayur jaggery were exported to Dubai. More than 70 percent of the world’s jaggery production is in India. During 2020-2021, India exported 6.32 lakh tonnes of jaggery and sweets made from it worth Rs 35.888 crores to foreign markets.
