Actress losses 37 lakhs in investment fraud, Kolkata man arrested

 Kochi:  In yet another incident of investment fraud, the Palarivattom police arrested a Kolkata man for cheating an actress in Kochi. The man, Yasser Iqbal (51), promised a loan of Rs 130 crore to the complainant for  an investment of Rs 37 lakhs. With the help of the cyber cell, the special investigation force of Palarivattom police arrested him from Kolkata. The team is still searching for his accomplice.

The fraudster gained acquaintance with the actress after convincing her that he would help her get a business loan. The actress handed over 37 lakhs to the fraudsters at a hotel in Kochi. As she realised that she was being duped, she contacted the police and duly lodged a complaint.  

The investigation conducted with the help of the cyber cell led to the details regarding the location of the culprits. The police team made the arrest of Yasser Iqbal who was hiding in a flat near the Tangra police station limits. He will be brought to Kochi for further questioning.
