New Delhi: Actor Siddique has claimed in the Supreme Court that he is being followed by some unidentified police officers. He stated that this is happening under the instructions of senior police officials. Siddique submitted an additional affidavit on Monday, ahead of the Supreme Court considering his anticipatory bail plea on Tuesday.

Siddique mentioned in the affidavit that unidentified individuals are following him and his family in private vehicles. He had reported this to the police control room and local police station, and also filed a complaint with the police chief. He noted that it became clear to him that these individuals were acting under the instructions of senior police officials.

He further stated that whenever he was called by the investigation officers, he had appeared for questioning and had handed over all requested information, including phone numbers. However, he informed the court that he no longer possesses his old phones.

The state government, on the other hand, in a strongly worded affidavit filed in the Supreme Court earlier, had made serious allegations against Siddique. The government stated that before glorifying Siddique as a hero, his wrongdoings must be exposed.  The affidavit had mentioned that there may come a time when future generations will idolise Siddique, and hence his true character must be brought to light. The Kerala government urged the court to reject Siddique’s anticipatory bail plea and allow his custody for further questioning in connection with the rape case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had granted Siddique interim bail in the rape case. The order was passed by a bench, comprising Justice Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma. The court had directed Siddique to appear before the investigation officers whenever required before the next hearing.

The rape survivor’s complaint alleged that Siddique raped her in a hotel room in Mascot, Thiruvananthapuram, in 2016, after offering her a film opportunity.
