CPM district conference: Delegate snubbed MV Govindan's style of speech while CM was on stage

Thiruvananthapuram: The irrefutable imperviousness of top leaders faced a setback at the CPM district conference in Thiruvananthapuram when a female delegate openly mocked the presentation style and language of party state secretary MV Govindan, even in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

While criticising the state’s police department, the delegate took a jab at MV Govindan's speaking style. “To understand the dialectical materialism preached by Govindan ‘Mash’ (as he is popularly called by party workers), one must visit the police stations. Only then will we realise the true meaning of our secretary’s speeches. His words and reality move in entirely different directions,” she remarked mockingly.

The Chief Minister, who oversees the Home Department, was on stage when the criticism was directed at the police force. The delegate pointed out that police stations fail to deliver justice to victims and that no action is taken in cases involving women and children. She further added that even party leaders themselves are denied justice in such instances.

Delegates also raised concerns about the lack of adequate representation for women within the party. They criticized the exclusion of women from leadership roles and questioned whether the party would issue a directive mandating the consideration of women for specific positions.
