Kodancherry 'Love Jihad' remark: George M Thomas to be censured publicly

Kozhikode: The CPM district secretariat on Wednesday decided to take action against district secretariat member George M Thomas for his 'Love Jihad' remark on the interfaith marriage of DYFI leader Shejin in Kodencherry. He will be censured publicly.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had said that George's comments are against the stand of CPM on the matter.
George had said that 'Love Jihad' is a reality and even CPM documents warn of organised activity to convert educated women in the guise of love. However, DYFI quickly came out in public against his stand. Kozhikode CPM district secretary P Mohanan also refuted his statement and held a public meeting in which George corrected his statement.
P Mohanan said that although George corrected his statement, George’s stand was not something agreeable with the party and its policies. He said that responsible party workers must uphold the stand of the party when they react over any matter. P Mohanan added that the action was taken by the party after strictly analyzing the mistake on George M Thomas’s part.
