Nedungadam: A man who was brought to Nedungadam Taluk Hospital for treatment by the police turned violent, spreading panic. However the timely intervention of police and the hospital staff prevented tension from escalating. Praveen, a resident of Nedungadam, was eventually tied to the hospital bed before receiving treatment. The miscreant hurled abuses at the people gathered around him.

High drama

Praveen had a fight with his colleagues at B.Ed college junction around 8 PM on Wednesday night. He had a scuffle with the vehicle owners as well, as he tried to damage the vehicles parked in the area.

Praveen suffered an injury on his head in the fight.

As per the information given by the locals, a team of police arrived at the spot. After prolonged efforts, police and Praveen’s wife managed to put him inside the vehicle. He was in an inebriated condition.

Since he was bleeding, the police took him to the taluk hospital. However after seeing a restless Praveen, the duty doctor made it clear that he would offer treatment only if the patient cooperates.

Inbetween, the miscreant also tried to flee the hospital, but was brought back by the locals and the police.

“The police had to eventually tie him to the bed before we could offer him treatment,” says the Medical Officer who was on duty.

After stitching the wound on his head, Praveen was shifted to Kottayam Medical College. He was accompanied by a police officer.

No cases have been registered against the miscreant so far.
