Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The main celebration is taking place at RK Beach, where PM Modi will lead the performance of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) alongside over 3 lakh participants. This large-scale event is part of the nationwide ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative, synchronizing with over 10 lakh locations across India from 6.30 am to 7.45 am.
After 11 years, Yoga has now become part of the lives of crores of people around the world, he further said adding. "whether the Sydney Opera House or Everest mountain or the span of the ocean, the message is that Yoga is for everyone."
The PM said some tensions or others were happening around the world.
"My request to the world-- let this Yoga day mark the beginning of Yoga for humanity 2.0 where inner peace becomes global policy," he said.
He further said Yoga leads us on a journey towards oneness with world.
Further, Yoga is for everyone, beyond boundaries, backgrounds, age or ability, the PM said.
Yoga is a great personal discipline, also a system that takes people from "Me to We" and is the pause button that humanity needs to breath, balance to become whole again, he added.
PM Narendra Modi in the event said, "For the expansion of Yoga in the world, India is empowering the science of Yoga through modern research... We are also encouraging evidence-based therapy in the field of Yoga. Delhi AIIMS has done a good job in this regard. Its research has shown that yoga has a critical role in the treatment of cardiac and neurological disorders, and it also plays an important role in women's health and mental health."
