From removing Guv's post to establishing model schools: Vijay's TVK unveils policy agenda

At its inaugural conference of the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), actor Vijay unveiled a bold and comprehensive policy agenda aimed at transforming governance in Tamil Nadu. 

Speaking at the conference, Vijay criticized both the DMK and the BJP on various issues, highlighting key areas where his party aims to implement change.

In its policy agenda, the party is committed to abolishing the Governor's position to promote direct accountability, while proposing a shift to proportional representation to enhance democratic participation. Emphasizing the importance of Tamil, TVK advocates for its prioritization in governance and public institutions.

Abolition of Governor Posts  

TVK is dedicated to abolishing the position of Governor, advocating for a more direct and accountable form of governance that empowers the people of Tamil Nadu.

Proportional Representation  

The party proposed a significant shift from traditional reservation systems to a model of proportional representation in elections, aiming to enhance democratic participation and representation.

Two-Language Policy  

Emphasizing the importance of Tamil, Vijay advocated for a two-language policy that prioritizes Tamil in governance, the judiciary, and religious institutions, reinforcing the state's rich linguistic heritage.

Education in State List  

TVK seeks to reintegrate education into the state list, allowing for greater local control over educational policies and improving access to quality education.

Madurai Branch of State Secretariat  

To decentralize administrative functions and improve local governance, a new branch of the state secretariat will be established in Madurai.

One-Third Women Representation  

In a move to promote gender equality, the party pledged that one-third of seats in both party and assembly tickets will be reserved for women.

Kamarajar Model Schools  

The establishment of Kamarajar Model Schools was announced to enhance educational standards and provide quality education across the state.

Information Technology University  

TVK plans to set up a dedicated university focused on information technology, aimed at boosting Tamil Nadu’s burgeoning tech sector and fostering innovation.

Protection of Water Bodies 

The party will implement measures to remove encroachments on water bodies, addressing critical environmental concerns and promoting sustainability.

Special Law Against Sand Quarrying

To tackle the rampant issue of illegal sand quarrying, TVK will introduce a special law aimed at regulating this practice, ensuring environmental protection and responsible resource management.

With this ambitious agenda, TVK aims to redefine governance in Tamil Nadu and ensure that the voices of all citizens are heard and represented.
