‘Does this face look like it would succumb to pressure?’ Vijay hints at no alliance for TN polls

Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu: Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Thalapathy Vijay on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP, DMK and AIADMK, asserting that his party would not bow to any political pressure.
“The AIADMK has directly surrendered to the BJP, and the DMK has indirectly surrendered to the BJP. We do not bow down to any pressure. Does this face look like it would succumb to pressure?…” Vijay said while addressing TVK’s state- and district-level consultative meeting in Mamallapuram.
He also indicated that TVK will not join hands with any political front in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, dismissing earlier reports of a coalition with the AIADMK.
"What is going to happen now is not just an election; it is a democratic battle. You are the commanders who are going to lead this democratic battle," Vijay said.
The actor-turned-politician declared that only TVK has the guts and attitude to take on the 'evil force' that is ruling right now and the 'corrupt force' that has previously governed the state--obvious references to the ruling DMK and the AIADMK, respectively.
"Whether it is this evil force or that corrupt force, both should not rule Tamil Nadu. Only we have the guts and the attitude to truly and boldly oppose such parties," said Vijay.
He also emphasised the core mission of his political entry, stating, "we are here to save the people and protect the soil from anyone who intends to cause harm".
The event was attended by around 3,000 party functionaries as TVK stepped up preparations for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

At the meeting, senior TVK leader K. A. Sengottaiyan hailed Vijay as the future of Tamil Nadu politics.
“After nearly 50 years in the AIADMK, I now have a great opportunity to serve under the future leader of Tamil Nadu. Now, no police officer will blow the whistle, because the Election Commission has allotted the whistle symbol to our TVK party. Vijay is not just a hero on screen; he will be the future hero of Tamil Nadu. Thalapathy Vijay is the only frontline warrior who can defeat the DMK in the upcoming elections,” Sengottaiyan said.
Praising Vijay’s political appeal, he added, “I have seen former Chief Minister MGR and many great leaders, but Vijay possesses a charisma that no one else has had in Indian political history. The people of Tamil Nadu have already made up their minds to vote for Thalapathy Vijay in the next Assembly election. A new leader has risen. The present leaders of the DMK and AIADMK are not true leaders. Only Vijay can build an equal and just society. No force can defeat our leader, Vijay.”

Highlighting TVK’s grassroots strength, Sengottaiyan said, “We have received the whistle symbol, and we must use it wisely to wake the sleeping masses and the elderly. Other parties gather crowds by spending money. TVK is the only party that draws massive crowds without spending a single rupee.”
The closed-door consultation, held at a private hall in Mamallapuram, focused on election preparedness, organisational strengthening and campaign planning. Entry was restricted to authorised participants carrying digital identity cards, with access permitted only after QR-code verification.
