Uttarakhand BJP MP Anil Baluni narrowly escapes massive landslide collapse | VIDEO

Dehradun (Uttarakhand): Uttarakhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Baluni narrowly avoided a major landslide while inspecting rain-hit areas in the state. The Rajya Sabha MP on Thursday shared a video on social media capturing the dramatic moment, showing him standing on a road stretch as a mountainside gave way.
Baluni, who posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter), said the frightening visuals highlight the devastating scale of the disaster currently unfolding across Uttarakhand.
“The severe cloudburst and landslides in Uttarakhand this year have left such deep wounds that it will take a long time to heal them. I am sharing a horrific scene of a landslide in the disaster-affected area from last evening,” Baluni wrote.
He added that, “I pray to Baba Kedarnath for everyone's safety, good health, and prosperity. In this hour of disaster, I commend the service of the NDRF and SDRF personnel, administration, and workers who are engaged in serving the people even in difficult circumstances.”
The hill state has been reeling under relentless rainfall for several months, with the latest spell unleashing cloudbursts in Dehradun and Chamoli. Landslides and flash floods have also been reported in other districts.
This week alone, at least 15 people have lost their lives to rain-related incidents, 13 of them in the Dehradun cloudburst. In Chamoli, a powerful burst of rain on Wednesday night left 10 people missing after debris flows demolished six buildings.
In response to the worsening situation, the state government has issued a red alert for Dehradun, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar. Authorities have warned of the risk of more intense rainfall, deadly landslides, and infrastructure damage until September 20.
