New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, thanking him for his warm birthday wishes and reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. The conversation came amid ongoing trade negotiations and diplomatic efforts to resolve global conflicts.

“Thank you, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Modi also expressed support for Washington’s initiatives aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

“Like you, I am also fully committed to taking India-US partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of Ukraine conflict,” he added.

The India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership spans key sectors including defence, energy, technology, and trade. In February, both leaders set a target to more than double bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030.

The birthday exchange comes as officials from both nations continue talks to resolve tariff disputes and finalise a long-pending bilateral trade agreement.
