Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will oversee critical portfolios, including police, general administration and the welfare of women, youth and children in his first-ever government. Meanwhile, veteran politician K A Sengottaiyan has been assigned the Finance portfolio, the Lok Bhavan announced on Saturday.
By holding the Home portfolio, Chief Minister Vijay maintains a long-standing tradition in Tamil Nadu, where CMs typically keep this vital responsibility under their direct supervision.
Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar officially approved the portfolio allocations for all 10 Cabinet Ministers—including the Chief Minister—following recommendations submitted by Vijay, according to a press release from the Tamil Nadu Lok Bhavan.
This announcement follows exactly one week after Vijay and his Council of Ministers took their oaths of office on May 10.
According to the official communication from the Lok Bhavan, Chief Minister Vijay's extensive portfolio will include public affairs, general administration, police, women and youth welfare, and the welfare of children, the elderly and differently-abled individuals. He will also oversee municipal administration, urban development and water supply.
