Officials expect a surge in filings on the final day, with several senior leaders and high-profile candidates set to enter the fray, intensifying the Tamil Nadu election contest.

Candidate participation and gender breakdown

Among constituencies, Karur has recorded the highest number of nominations (84 candidates), drawing attention due to the presence of key political figures, including M R Vijayabhaskar. A large number of Independent candidates have also entered the race, contributing to the unusually high count.

In contrast, Madurai South constituency has reported the lowest number of nominations, with only three candidates filing papers so far, highlighting uneven electoral activity across regions.
