Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was discharged from Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, on Sunday evening following a successful therapeutic procedure to correct variations in his heart rate.

According to a statement released by the hospital, Stalin has been declared fit to return home and has been advised to resume his regular duties after three days of rest.

The Chief Minister was admitted to the hospital on 21 July after experiencing mild dizziness during his morning walk. After a medical evaluation, he underwent a procedure performed by a team of specialists.

Despite his hospital stay, CM Stalin remained engaged in official duties. Earlier on Sunday, he wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outlining several urgent demands concerning education, infrastructure development, railway expansion, and public welfare in Tamil Nadu.

In his letter, Stalin called for the immediate release of pending central funds under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, amounting to ₹2,151.59 crore for the 2024–25 financial year. He also requested the sanction of the first instalment for 2025-26 and urged the Centre not to link the release of funds to the signing of the PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) scheme Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Chief Minister’s petition highlighted the prolonged delays in key railway infrastructure projects that were sanctioned over a decade ago but have yet to see implementation. Among the stalled projects listed were the Dindigul-Sengottai-Thirunelveli (70 km) line, the Erode-Palani (91 km) line, the Aruppukkottai-Madurai-Thoothukudi (60 km) line, the Athipattu-Puttur (88 km) line, and the Mahabalipuram-Chennai-Cuddalore (180 km) line.
