Tamil Nadu weather today: Heat to rise across state, rain likely only in Western Ghats

Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a rise in temperatures across Tamil Nadu, even as only isolated parts of the Western Ghats are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall on Saturday.

Most regions of the state, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, are likely to remain dry, signaling the intensification of summer conditions.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, a few locations in the Western Ghats districts may experience brief spells of light to moderate rain. However, these showers are expected to be localized and will not significantly impact the overall weather pattern across Tamil Nadu.

For the majority of districts, skies will remain clear to partly cloudy, with no major rainfall activity anticipated.

Temperatures set to climb

The IMD has warned of a gradual increase in daytime temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Temperatures may rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in several areas

Weather experts have advised people, especially in interior districts, to take precautions against rising temperatures:

• Wear light and breathable clothing

Although isolated rainfall in the Western Ghats may bring brief relief to nearby regions, widespread rain is unlikely in the near future. Tamil Nadu is expected to continue experiencing rising heat levels as summer sets in.
