Tamil Nadu weather update: Dry conditions continue, Western Ghats may see showers

Chennai: The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast a continued dry spell across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next two days, despite the presence of atmospheric systems over the southern seas.
In an official statement, the weather department said an atmospheric low-pressure circulation persists over the Comorin Sea and adjoining Maldives region. An upper-air cyclonic circulation is also prevailing over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean.
However, meteorologists indicated that these systems are unlikely to trigger any significant rainfall across most parts of Tamil Nadu in the immediate term.
Light rain forecast for Western Ghats
While the overall outlook remains dry, isolated light rain is likely at one or two locations in the Western Ghats districts on 6 and 7 March. No widespread rainfall activity has been predicted across the state.
For Chennai and its suburbs, the forecast points to partly cloudy skies for the next two days, with no rain expected. Early morning hours may see light mist in some low-lying areas.
Misty conditions are also likely to prevail in parts of the Western Ghats and along the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu during the early mornings. Residents, particularly motorists, have been advised to exercise caution due to potential reduced visibility in certain pockets.

No major temperature change expected
Although parts of the state have experienced temperature fluctuations in recent weeks, the current Tamil Nadu weather forecast does not indicate any major change in maximum temperatures.
The weather department said it is closely monitoring developments over the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean for any signs of intensification.
With the summer season gradually setting in, dry conditions are expected to continue across most interior districts of Tamil Nadu. Further updates will be issued if there are significant changes in weather patterns.
